SALT LAKE CITY – The musical talents of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir welcomed tens of thousands of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Conference Center in Salt Lake City Saturday morning, and LDS Church leaders spoke on a variety of topics that included the importance of family.
Millions more listened in and watched on TV and online from around the world as the LDS Church held sessions of the 185th semi-annual General Conference Saturday morning, afternoon and evening.
Church leaders spoke to members about finding joy through the gospel, trusting in God and the importance of families--among other topics.
“It is around marriage and family that we find the greatest commonality with the world," said Elder L. Tom Perry, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, during his remarks. "It is around marriage and family that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has the greatest opportunity to be a light upon the hill.”
The last two sessions of General Conference will be held Sunday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Each session lasts about two hours, and the event can be viewed online. Click here for a link to the livestream.
The LDS Church also published a statistical report of their membership for the April conference, with data current as of December 31, 2014. The report states the LDS Church has a total membership of 15,372,337 and that the total includes 116,409 “new children of record” and 296,803 converts who were baptized.
