Utah Latinos rally to support President Obama during his visit to Utah

SALT LAKE CITY -- With President Barack Obama in town Thursday night, Utah Latinos rallied in support of his immigration policies.

A group gathered at Liberty Park Thursday night, and they thanked the president for his executive order that gave immigrants a work permit. President Obama is visiting the state and is scheduled to speak at Hill Air Force Base Friday morning.

Carlos Uribe arrived in the United States with his parents when he was six.

The Salt Lake City resident said: "They helped me I guess per se get out of the shadows, is that how you say it?” I can now live my life like I wanted to, living the American dream. I'm going to school, getting a better job. It's been great."

Activist Tony Yappias says Latino immigrants have played a big role in the economic well-being of the state.
