SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah’s gymnastics team remains reigning Pac-12 champions despite the loss of one of their star athletes during Saturday’s championship meet.

All-American and 2014 Pac-12 Gymnast of the year Tory Wilson tore her Achilles tendon and suffered damage to the foot on her other leg during her floor routine, according to the Utah Gymnastics press release.

But that didn’t stop the Red Rocks from defending their tittle in front of more than 14,000 fans Saturday night.

The combined attendance from both sessions was 23,568 fans.

“I’m happy for our team and happy for our fans, but I am devastated for Tory,” said co-head coach Greg Marsden.

The Utes scored 198.150 to finish ahead of UCLA (197.375), Stanford (197.175), Oregon State (196.900), Arizona (196.225), California (196.150), Washington (196.000) and Arizona State (192.700).

Georgia Dabritz was named Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the year on Friday. On Saturday it was announced she was the Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year.

Dabritz, Corrie Lothrop and Becky Tutka were left to clinch the meet for the Utes after Wilson’s injury, according to the release.

“Visibly shaken by the loss of their teammate, they nonetheless wrapped up the win with a 9.90 from Lothrop, a 9.95 from Dabritz and a 9.925 from Tutka,” the release stated.

Those who wish to send well-wishes to Wilson can do so by following the instructions in the tweet below:
