SOUTH SALT LAKE – Months after a man was shot inside a car after an alleged drug deal, police have arrested a man they suspect of being the shooter and booked him into jail for homicide.

According to a press release from the South Salt Lake Police Department, Amar Miljkovic, 24 of Midvale, was arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Orlando J. Roybal.

Miljkovic was taken into custody without incident near 1100 East and 7600 South and he has been booked into jail on charges that include homicide as a second-degree felony and aggravated robbery as a first-degree felony. The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office will be screening the case and formal charges have not yet been filed.

Police arrested another suspect in the murder in early December, saying Whitney Marie Connor was the one who facilitated an alleged drug deal at 600 East and Leland Avenue on December 4 that led to the fatal shooting of Roybal.

Police stated in December that Connor had entered Roybal’s vehicle for a drug deal, and that after the deal, “a male suddenly opened the driver side door, produced a gun, stole items from inside the vehicle, and then shot the front passenger multiple times.”
