WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Four people were injured in a stabbing after what appears to be a gang-related fight at a West Valley City apartment early Saturday morning, according to West Valley City police.

At approximately 1:43 a.m., police responded to an apartment complex at 3856 W. 3500 South on report of a large fight.

Upon arrival, officers found two people inside the apartment had been stabbed.

While on scene, police received a call from Jordan Valley West Medical Center that two stabbing victims had come into the emergency room.

During the investigation, police discovered that a group of people were having a party inside the apartment when another group of individuals showed up to the residence.

At some point, a fight broke out between to the two groups, police say. The fight started inside then spilled out into the parking lot.

During the altercation, a man brandished a knife and began stabbing people, police say.

Three of the victims, an 18-year-old man, a 22-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl, received less serious wounds.

A 20-year-old man received stab wounds to the chest and is currently in extremely critical condition.

Police have arrested Santana James Percival, 23, in connection with the stabbing. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and contributing delinquency to a minor.
