UTAH COUNTY — A South Jordan man is in serious condition after being ejected from a jeep as it rolled in Utah County while four-wheeling early Sunday morning, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., a 23-year-old man was out “jeeping” with a friend on Chimney Rock Pass Road, about seven miles west of the south end of Utah Lake. The area is known as Little Moab, said Sgt. Spencer Cannon, spokesman for the sheriff’s office.

Cannon said during the drive the vehicle rolled on top of the victim. The man, identified as Jason Guss, was not wearing a seat belt.

The man was flown to Intermountain Medical Center in serious condition, suffering from broken ribs and a back injury. He is expected to survive.

The driver was not severely injured.

Cannon said the two had been drinking but the driver was not impaired. Charges are not expected to be filed in the crash.
