SALT LAKE CITY — Winter storms are sweeping across the state after months of mild temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service there is a winter weather advisory in effect until noon Tuesday for the Wasatch Front and Cache Valley.

A winter storm warning is in effect for southern Utah and the Wasatch mountains south of Interstate 80 until 4 p.m. Tuesday. The western Uintas are also included in the warning.

According to FOX 13’s head meteorologist Brett Benson the snow will fall throughout the evening into Tuesday morning, which could cause issues for the morning commute, especially on higher elevation roads.

Brett says the valleys in northern Utah could see about one inch of snow and up to four inches in isolated areas.

The benches could see three to six inches of snow while the mountains could accumulate about a foot.

Tuesday temperatures are expected to be in the upper 30s to low 40s with overnight lows in the 20s.

Brett says temperatures will go back up on Wednesday.
