One killed in West Valley City accident, avoid 3500 S. near 4600 W.

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Emergency crews are asking drivers to avoid the area near 4600 W. and 3500 S. after two cars collided killing one person in West Valley City.

Official said a pickup truck broadsided a Jeep turning onto 3500 S.

The 57-year-old driver of the Jeep, Michael Neilson, died at the scene.

The driver in the truck went to the hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities have closed 3500 S. between 4400 W. and 4800 W. and said streets will remain closed for hours while they investigate.
