Lane lovers strike back against cancer at annual event

Bowl for the cureSALT LAKE CITY — An annual event is being held in Salt Lake City Saturday and Sunday that raises funds to fight cancer, and anyone who has spare time is encouraged to aim for a strike.

The 13th Annual Bowl for the Cure is sponsored by the Great Salt Lake Bowling Association, and Saturday and Sunday Bonwood Bowl on 2500 South Main Street will be hosting the charitable event.

The weekend fund-raiser is affiliated with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization. According to a press release from event organizers, they have raised about $189,000 to fight cancer in the last 12 years. The event takes place both Saturday and Sunday, and event times are: 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The cost is $20 for those who pre-register and $30 for those who sign up on the day of the event.
