SALT LAKE CITY — All lanes on Interstate 80 near Interstate 215 westbound have reopened after a dump truck knocked power lines onto the roadway causing the area to close Tuesday afternoon.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers on scene confirmed to FOX 13 News that a UDOT dump truck doing work on the shoulder of I-80 hit the power lines, knocking them down.

Two cars and one fifth-wheel trailer were hit when the lines came down, troopers said.

There were no injuries reported.

The closure also affects the connector ramp from northbound I-215 W to eastbound I-80.

Sgt. Todd Royce from the UHP said the closures were necessary to allow Rocky Mountain Power repair crews to safely remove the downed power lines.
