SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — Friends and family came together Sunday for a sunset vigil in honor of Rashelle and Zaven Meguerditchian, who died in a car accident Friday.

Rashelle was driving with her 4-year-old son in the area of State Route 111 and Bacchus Highway when the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a truck head-on.

Zaven died at the scene of the crash, and his mother died later at a hospital. Sunday, friends and family lit candles and shared their memories of the mother and son.

“If we take any lesson from this, live every single day positive and turn any negative situation into a positive situation, and help people in need,” one family member said as she addressed those who gathered. “If somebody’s down, pick them up–because that’s what she always did.”

A donation fund has been set through Wells Fargo in the family’s name, and branches of the bank are also accepting Christmas presents to be given to Lexy and Levon, who are siblings of Zaven.
