STANFORD, Calif. – The University of Utah Utes won in dramatic fashion Saturday night, scoring two touchdowns in the span of two overtime periods to take home a 20-17 win against Stanford.

Scoring was initially limited to the first half. Stanford took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on  pass from Hogan to Ward, and Utah tied it up in the second quarter when Travis Wilson found the end zone on a short, 2-yard run. After four quarters the Utes and Cardinal headed into overtime tied 7-7.

Both teams managed to connect for 7 in the first overtime period, with Utah’s touchdown coming on a 25-yard pass from Travis Wilson to Kaelin Clay, who last week dropped the ball on a play that figured prominently in Utah's loss to Oregon.

Stanford began with the ball as the second overtime period began. Utah’s defense held strong and forced Stanford into a long field goal attempt from 51 yards out, which they completed to take the lead 17-14. The field goal was a career-high kick for Stanford kicker J. Williamson.

Utah’s offense came back out one last time for a double-overtime drive that culminated in a touchdown pass from Travis Wilson to Kenneth Scott.

Utah totaled for 247 yards on offense as Travis Wilson was 21-28 for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Stanford finished with 294 total yards as Hogan went 17-27 for 104 yards and two touchdowns.

Nate Orchard had 3.5 sacks for 28 yards.

The Utes improve to 7-3 (4-3 in conference) while Stanford falls to 5-5. Utah plays next on November 22, when they will take on Arizona at home in Salt Lake City.
