LOGAN, Utah -- At the beginning of this season Hunter Sharp was at the bottom of the depth chart for wide receivers.

The junior arrived at Utah State late, so he expected to wait his turn for playing time.

But now, Sharp is the leader of the pack and he's making the most of his chance.

"I've always wanted to be a quarterback, I'm just not that good at throwing the ball," Sharp joked.

Sharp started his football career at a junior college and he almost didn't continue.

"I had to really ask myself if I still wanted to play football. On the off season, I really committed myself to football and school and it ended up paying off in a very, very good way," he said.

Sharp transferred to USU late this summer. Head coach Matt Wells continually comments on how hard Sharp works.

Sharp's work is paying off, now starting at wide receiver and catching five touchdowns so far this season.

"Honestly, it's been a shock to me. But, I'm just taking it in week by week and Coach told me if I worked hard, that would happen. And I love that I bought into the system and it's actually paying off," Sharp said.

Sharp’s dreams are bigger than college football -- hoping to one day be drafted in the NFL, but that doesn't mean he takes his college experience for granted.

"I'm at a great place to have a good opportunity so, I hope so. It's a dream, dream come true. This is even a dream come true. [Being at Utah State?] Yeah, being at Utah State," Sharp said.
