PLAIN CITY, Utah – A man is recovering after an officer-involved shooting in Weber County overnight.

Authorities said they were called to a home near 2600 N. 3550 W. when a neighbor heard gunshots in a nearby garage Thursday night.

Officers said they found 66-year-old Alan Dale Parkinson intoxicated and said he made threats to hurt himself.

Deputies tried to get Parkinson to put down the gun and called in the SWAT team.

After about two hours of negotiations, Parkinson pointed the gun at authorities and an officer shot him.

Authorities said his injuries are not life-threatening.

No officers were injured.

Homes were evacuated in the area as a precaution during the standoff.

Authorities said Parkinson is now facing two counts of aggravated assault
