Police stop Vegas-bound vehicle, make 2 arrests after false kidnapping report

CEDAR CITY, Utah – Police in Cedar City located and stopped a vehicle after a juvenile female called her mother in Denver to report she had been kidnapped, and even though officers discovered that no kidnapping had occurred, two people were taken into custody.

According to information from Cedar City police, dispatch received an attempt to locate on a 2008 silver Ford Fusion and officers found and stopped the vehicle, which had three juvenile females, one juvenile male and an adult inside.

A woman in Denver had reported her daughter called to say she had been kidnapped. However, police determined the individuals in the car were on their way to Las Vegas and that there had been no kidnapping.

Police stated they located a small amounts of marijuana, paraphernalia, alcohol and stolen property inside the vehicle.

A juvenile male was booked into the Iron County Juvenile Detention Center for Not A Drop DUI, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of stolen property.

The adult male, identified as 21-year-old Nathan Rodriguez, was booked into the Iron County Jail for furnishing alcohol to a minor, possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
