700 RMP customers lose power after car crashes into power pole

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah –Power has been restored to about 720 Rocky Mountain Power customers after a car accident into a power pole knocked out power Saturday morning, according to the power company’s website.

The outage affected residents in the zip code of 84120.

The accident occurred at 4385 South at 4800 West. A Salt Lake City man, age 41, was traveling south on 4800 West when he crossed over into northbound lanes, according to West Valley City police.

The driver rolled his vehicle and hit the power pole. Police say he had to be extricated. The man was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on DUI.
