Found: Missing man who suffers from ‘severe dementia’ located

UPDATE: A 67-year-old man with dementia has been found.

Authorities said James Patterson was found on the Jordan River Parkway Trail near 1000 W. and 3300 S.

Officials said he is in good condition.

SOUTH SALT LAKE – Police are asking for the public’s help locating a 67-year-old male suffering from severe dementia who walked away from a rehabilitation center.

According to information from South Salt Lake Police Department officials, James Wallace Patterson, 67, walked away from the Little Cottonwood Rehabilitation Center located at 3094 S. State St.

Police issued an endangered missing advisory for Patterson, who was last seen around 11 a.m. at the rehabilitation center.

Patterson is described a white male who stands 5-feet, 5-inches tall and weighs 132 pounds. He has white hair and was last seen wearing a khaki hat, a yellow and white shirt, khaki short pants and gray shoes. The man is pictured above.

Officials stated the man has severe dementia and may appear to be confused or lost. Officials said the man frequently talks about looking for work.

Anyone who sees Patterson or who knows his whereabouts is asked to call dispatch officials at 801-840-4000.
