SALT LAKE CITY – Authorities are searching for a suspect accused of stabbing a man in the chest with a screwdriver.

The victim is recovering in the hospital after a late night argument ended in the alleged stabbing.

Officers said the victim was on his bike and stopped at a light near 8th W. and North Temple when a man he knew approached him.

That’s when the men got into a loud argument which ended with the suspect stabbing the victim and running from the scene.

“I could hear some pretty heavy arguing, tone of voice getting heavier and heavier, and more and more irritating, so I decided to come out and take a look-see,” witness Dave Mayo said. “What I saw was a man fleeing, running down the street pretty fast, I was basically yelling, ‘knock it off, what the hell’s going on here?'”

Suspect description:

– Caucasian man
– 200 pounds
– Round face
– Wears glasses
– Could be called “Augie”
– Last seen wearing blue jeans, blue shirt and a large silver chain necklace
