Uintah Co. has person of interest in Vernal shooting that killed one, injured another

VERNAL, Utah – Uintah County authorities are investigating a shooting that killed one person and injured another in Vernal.

Deputies were called to a home near 2600 N. and 500 E. just before midnight Tuesday.

When officials arrived, they found 34-year-old Curtis D. Hardinger with a gunshot wound.

He was rushed to a local hospital where he later died.

Uintah County Undersheriff John Laursen said another person was injured in the shooting and is recovering in the hospital.

Their name has not been released.

Laursen said deputies have identified and located a person of interest and the investigation is ongoing.
