SALT LAKE CITY – Some dogs staying at a shelter will enjoy shade this summer thanks to a grant that is part of the Rescue Rebuild program.

Thanks to grants from the organizations Pedigree and GreaterGood.org, the Humane Society of Utah was able to construct two storage sheds and install sun veils to provide more shade for animals.

Jamie Usry, development director at Humane Society of Utah, said the improvements should be a boon to the animals.

“The dog runs, the shading is going to be incredible because it’s about to get really hot, some of our runs don’t have trees in them, so this is going to provide cover where they can lay and be comfortable when they’re having their outdoor time,” she said.

Pedigree is also donating six month’s worth of food for the dogs in the shelter. For more information about the Humane Society of Utah, visit their website.
