FRUITLAND, Utah — A wildfire that started Friday about nine miles south of Fruitland is now 25 percent contained, according to a statement from the U.S. Forest Service.

The “Cow Hollow Fire” is burning in Cow Hollow on the Duchesne-Roosevelt Ranger District of the Ashley National Forest. The area is a steep canyon with heavy spruce and Douglas fir timber and is only accessible by foot.

As of Monday morning, the fire was about 290 acres and 170 firefighters have been assigned. Three helicopters were also dispatched.

The fire is expected to be fully contained Tuesday.  No structures are currently threatened and no closures are in effect, the statement said.
