UHP Troopers: Metro Gang Unit’s ‘Public Enemy No. 1’ off the streets

SALT LAKE CITY – A man the Salt Lake Metro Gang Unit considered Public Enemy No. 1 is now behind bars.

Police said Jamie Ralph Hamlin, who also goes by “Devious,” is a member of a violent street gang.

“He is a gang member, he is a known gang member, a violent gang member and a gang member that is known to terrorize the public and terrorize other victims and it’s a big giant case for the highway patrol tonight to be able to catch a gentleman like this in a stolen vehicle and be able to take him to jail,” UHP Sgt. Chamberlain Neff said.

The Utah Highway Patrol said the man had warrants for his arrest relating to a weapons violations and theft.

Officials with the Utah Highway Patrol tweeted that UHP Troopers had captured the man.

Hamlin is a convicted felon who has previously been arrested for aggravated assault, numerous weapon violations, theft, drugs and resisting arrest.
