SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Attorney General's Office renewed its request for a federal appeals court to halt recognition of same-sex marriage in the state.

In a filing Monday morning, Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes' office urged the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver to grant a stay of same-sex marriage recognition -- but said it was prepared to go to the U.S. Supreme Court if it is rejected.

From the filing:

10th Circuit Utah

The federal appeals court could decide at any time on this case, as well as Utah's appeal of a decision that struck down Amendment 3, the state's ban on same-sex marriage.
