Police investigate possible DUI after 2-vehicle crash Friday

WEBER COUNTY, Utah – Police are investigating a possible DUI after a officials responding to a car crash found beer cans and a whiskey bottle at the scene of the crash.

Sgt. Lane Findlay, Weber County Sheriff’s Office, said a 17-year-old was driving west on State Road 39 Friday around 4 p.m. when he turned in front of a truck at the intersection at 7800 East.

The vehicle spun after the truck struck it, and the driver was knocked out. The driver of the car suffered facial injuries. Both the driver and passenger were taken to a hospital with injuries. The driver of the truck was not injured.

Police said that both the driver and the passenger of the passenger car had been drinking. The passenger was issued a citation, and Findlay said the DUI investigation relating to the driver is still pending and the driver may face charges.
