SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake Forward Alvaro Saborio, the team’s all-time leading scorer, will miss the World Cup and several games for RSL due to a foot injury.

Saborio fractured his fifth metatarsal in the right foot while practicing with the Costa Rican national team at their pre-World Cup training camp Thursday.

According to a press release from RSL, the forward is returning to Salt Lake City from the team’s camp in order to be evaluated by medical staff.

Saborio “will miss 3-4 months due to the injury and will not participate in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.”

RSL’s all-time leading scorer was named to Costa Rica’s preliminary World Cup roster on May 14. Before leaving for Costa Rica, Saborio had six goals and two assists in 10 games for RSL, according to the press release.
