CACHE COUNTY, Utah – A 10-year-old boy was taken to a hospital by medical helicopter Sunday with injuries to his hip, left arm and abdomen after he drove over a drop-off and came to a rest about 60 feet below.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. in the area west of Tony Grove Lake when a 10-year-old from Providence rode his father’s snowmobile over a steep drop off that he didn’t see until it was too late.

According to a press release from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office, the boy suffered a puncture wound to his abdomen as well as injuries to his hip and left arm.

A member of the group was able to contact dispatch officials for help, and the Cache County Search and Rescue unit was sent to assist. Crews from an AirMed helicopter were able to land near the injured juvenile and offer aid at the scene. He was taken to Primary Children’s Hospital for further care, and his current condition is unknown, according to the press release.
