ANTELOPE ISLAND, Utah – A festival celebrating cowboy and ranching history is being held Memorial Day weekend.

The 10th Annual Cowboy Legends, Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival hopes to allow guests to experience what life might be like on a ranch 133 years ago.

Participant J.C. Needham spoke about the event.

“The cowboy lifestyle is part of our history,” he said. “It’s part of what made our country as great as what it is. And, it’s just something that we can’t let die.”

Sonja Needham also participated.

“We’re happy that everybody is coming out and enjoying, hopefully, the music and the people,” she said.

The event focuses on poetry and music but also includes activities for kids, wagon rides, a trading post, food vendors and camping. All proceeds from the event are donated to the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

The festival takes place May 23 through May 26, click here for a schedule of events.
