American Fork
Utah Governor Gary Herbert will be the keynote speaker at American Fork’s annual Memorial Day Program, to be held Monday, May 26, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in the Alpine Tabernacle, 110 East Main Street, American Fork.

Entitled “Remembrance,” the 75-minute program will also feature performances by the American Fork High School A Capella Choir and the nationally-renowned American Fork High School Marching Band. Various City officials will also participate, along with the Utah National Guard 1457th Battalion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 491B.

The program will include a presentation from the community to the family of Utah County Deputy Sheriff Sergeant Cory Wride, who grew up in the American Fork and was killed in the line of duty January 30, 2014. American Fork City Councilman Brad Frost will unveil the design of a monument honoring Sgt. Wride, which will be placed in adjacent Robinson Park in June. Frost will display a granite plaque which will become part of the monument.

“It’s the community paying tribute to Cory Wride, the boy and the man, and through him to all who serve us in law enforcement,” Frost said.
