Runaway juvenile located, man faces kidnapping charge after traffic stop

IRON COUNTY, Utah – Police officials stopped a vehicle Friday after checking the license plate and determining it was attached to a runaway juvenile from Minnesota; the juvenile was found and a man was arrested.

A deputy working on I-15 checked the license plate of a white Buick Skylark and dispatch officials informed him it was connected to the runaway juvenile.

According to a press release from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, the 17-year-old female was inside and was taken to a juvenile detention center in Iron County. The driver of the vehicle, 21-year-old Michael Fredrick Luer of Minnesota, was taken to the Iron County Jail and faces a charge of kidnapping as a second-degree felony.

A dog inside the car was taken to the Iron County Animal Shelter.
