SALT LAKE CITY — A Southwest Airline flight landed safely at the Salt Lake City International Airport Tuesday after the pilot reported smelling smoke in the cockpit.

The flight was traveling from Kansas City. Emergency crews were on stand by as the flight landed, however the plane made the landing without incident.

The pilot said the initial issue of the smell of smoke appeared to have cleared by the time the plane landed, according to Barbara Gann, spokeswoman for the Salt Lake City International Airport.

Passengers deplaned as normal and were not expected to experience any delays. The plane was examined at the gate.
