2 men arrested in connection with 5 pharmacy burglaries in Utah County

OREM, Utah — Two Cedar Hills men were arrested last week in connection with five pharmacy burglaries in Utah County, officials said Monday.

The first reported theft was from a Walgreens, located at 850 S. State Street in Orem on March 30, according to a press release from Orem Department of Public Safety.

Officers in the area followed a suspect vehicle that was leaving the area. Tha car was cornered one of the two suspects fled on foot and eventually got away.

It wasn’t until April 21 that investigators were able to identify the suspects in the robbery when a woman reported fraudelant charges on her lost credit card, police said.

Charges were to retailers in Orem, police said.

While investigating the case, police say, they were able to get surveillance video of the suspect vehicle.

That vehicle was located and stopped Thursday, according to police. The occupants of the car were Chad A. Berghoff 22, and Craig D. Royster, 18.

The two were arrested while officers searched their car. During a search of the vehicle, police say, they found medication that matched the drugs missing from the Walgreens burglary.

After interviewing Berghoff and Royster, police say, they linked the men to two stolen credit card cases and five pharmacy burglaries.

The other pharmacies reportedly stolen from were a Smith’s in Orem; a Walgreens in Saratoga Springs; Taylor Drug in American Fork on two ocassions; and a Walgreens in Springville.

Berghoff and Royster were booked into Utah County Jail on several charges related to burglary and theft.
