SPANISH FORK — A fire at a Spanish Fork elementary school caused thousands of dollars in damage to the building and outside playground Tuesday evening, according to Spanish Fork Police.

At about 6:45 p.m. fire crews responded to Park Elementary School, 90 N. 600 East, where an outdoor playground was on fire.

Strong winds spread flames to the side of school, setting the eaves on fire.

Although the blaze was put out quickly, $5 to $10,000 in damage was done to the building and $10,000 to $15,000 in damage was done to the playground equipment.

Police say a security camera shows a girl and two boys between the ages of 5-10 playing with something burning before the playground caught fire.

The children have not been identified.
