SALT LAKE CITY – Members of the homeless community and others in need were treated to a meal and an Easter egg hunt Saturday, courtesy of a local charitable organization.

The Rescue Mission of Salt Lake hosts the annual event, and they served Easter brunch and set up the egg hunt for hundreds of homeless and low-income families in Pioneer Park. Other activities, like carnival games, were also provided.

The mission provides meals to those in need on a daily basis, but Saturday’s event is one of several large banquets they host throughout the year. Chris Croswhite, executive director for the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake, said the events help boost morale.

“Several times a year we’ll throw our banquets, and they love our banquets because we just spoil them so much and that’s important because that gives them dignity, it gives them respect, it give them hope for a new life,” he said.

Thousands of personal hygiene and clothing items were also given away at Saturday’s Easter celebration. To learn more about Rescue Mission Salt Lake, visit their website.
