SOUTHERN UTAH — The Powell Ranger District of the Dixie National Forest will begin its spring prescribed burn program this month through November.

Locations included in the burn program are:

Ahlstom Hollow – 400 acres

Sunset North – 200 acres

Dave’s Hollow – 300 acres

The purpose of these prescribed burns is to improve forest health, according Dixie National Forest officials. The long-term vegetation goal is to move toward the properly functioning condition and return fire to its natural role in the area.

Fire crews will be on scene to prepare, ignite and hold the prescribed burns.

If Obama’s EPA is shutting down wood burning fireplaces, I don’t understand why the forest service is polluting the air with fires they start? Hmmmm… Makes no sense!! Plus the cost!
