SALT LAKE CITY – A local pastor and his congregation have been celebrating this week in honor of the pastor’s 40 years of service.

The Rev. France Davis has led the Calvary Baptist Church in downtown Salt Lake City for those 40 years, and he said in that time he’s watched children grow up and his congregation grow.

The pastor has made it his mission to feed the homeless, build low-income housing for seniors and help children attend college. Those goals tie into the teachings he offers Sundays.

“It's important to know where people have come from, then you can help them to go to the place they need to go,” he said. “If you don't know where they've come from then you can't help them go forward.”

The church is hosting a celebration on April 27 at 3:30 p.m. For more information, visit their website.
