DAVIS COUNTY, Utah – The Davis County Sheriff’s Office is celebrating 160 years of service by digging into their archives and exploring their history.
In those 160 years, the office has grown from two deputies to a staff of more than 300.
Sheriff Todd Richardson spoke about their historical efforts.
“We've been putting together kind of a timeline of things that have occurred in the past,” he said. “…we found other stories that were up to the ‘50s and ‘60s where there were individuals that fled up into the mountains, and the sheriff and a couple deputies went up to get them. Those are the kinds of cherished stories we've been able to record and put down for future generations.”
Richardson said some things change while others stay the same.
“The types of cases are the same, the only difference really is the technological advancements and some of the techniques and the education,” he said.
The office plans to hold an open house for the public featuring photos and other exhibits. Officials said the open house will be announced on their Facebook page.
