SALT LAKE CITY -- Three hundred kids received the gift of sight thanks to theOneSightvision van which rolled through Salt Lake this week.

This four-wheeled optometrist lab travels across the country performing eye tests, and giving out glasses for free.

Twelve local doctors and volunteers spent three days treating kids in the Salt Lake County school district.

“A lot of parents don`t know what to look for and even sometimes school screening don`t catch some of the kids that need help,” said Optometrist Kirk Drennan. He has volunteered with OneSight for the last several years.

Issues with eye sight play a huge role in a child’s success in the classroom, as 80 percent of what they learn is visual, according to Drennan.

The OneSight van is headed next to Salem, Maine.
