SALT LAKE CITY -- The National Weather Service will release official snowpack numbers Wednesday, but there is some evidence the recent rain and snow is helping Utah's water situation.

In northern Utah, officials with the Weber Basin Conservancy District said the snowpack is at 102 percent normal. But the situation is very different in southern Utah, where the snowpack is just 50 percent.

National Weather Service Hydrologist Brian McInerney said he'd like to see more snow in the mountains this winter in northern and southern Utah. He said even when the snowpack is above average, it's still not enough to fill reservoirs all the way up.
