It was a slow start for the Utes, but they took over the second half, shooting an impressive 73 percent and dismantling Colorado from getting a win.
The Utes trailed the entire first half and were finally able to catch up with seconds left before the buzzer.
"The reality is we weren't playing defense quite as hard as we needed to. We finished that couple of four minute segments off heading into the locker room and managed to tie the score and I think that kind of set the pace. We were able to keep that pace going into the second half," Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak said after the game.
"In the first half, we started picking up our defense and that was helping our offense. So, just coming out at halftime and coach said just try to build off that, just get some stops, and then push and play our game and that's what we did," sophomore forward Jordan Loveridge said.
Offense picked up in the second half - junior guard Delon Wright scoring 18 of his 21 points down the stretch.
"I wasn't aggressive enough in the first half. Just trying to let the game come to me but that wasn't working so the second half I just tried to be more aggressive," Wright said about his game performance.
Now Utah only has two games left before the PAC 12 tournament and head coach Larry Krystkowiak says he is positive that the guys will have a chance at the title.
"We've gone right down to the wire with the team that's won the regular season championship. For us, I like the fact that we've got a little bit of depth," Krystkowiak said. "I know we are going to be a decent crowd in Vegas and I have got as good a reason to believe we are going to win it as anybody else does."
The Utes are now headed on the road for their last two regular season games against California and Stanford.
