SALT LAKE CITY — A blustery day is expected throughout the Salt Lake Valley with wind gusts up to 40 mph and scattered rain showers, according to the National Weather Service Saturday morning.

Meteorologist Steve Rogowski said wind speeds were at their strongest overnight. He expects gusts will remain between 30-40 mph throughout the day.

Although rain has been heavy and steady in areas earlier this week, it is predicted to be light and scattered, officials said.

A handful of South Weber homes were evacuated because of mudslide threats because of the heavy rain in Davis County. At approximately 7 a.m. officials said no problems were reported in the area throughout the night.

Rogowski said South Weber is expected to get rain but it’s expected to be scattered showers.

Rogowski added that the Salt Lake Valley will be hit with a light to moderate rain throughout the day.

“It’ll be a more bubbly early spring, late summer kind of coverage,” Rogowski said.

The high temperature for Saturday is anticipated to be in the mid 50s. Saturday night’s low is expected to be in the upper 30s.
