SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has moved more than 20 missionaries out of the Crimean peninsula, and the move comes on the same day Russia’s upper house of Parliament voted unanimously in favor of sending military forces into Ukraine.

The following is a statement from the LDS Church:

“Due to civil unrest, 23 missionaries serving in the Ukraine Dnepropetrovsk Mission have been removed from the Crimean peninsula and transferred to other areas within the mission as a precautionary measure.”
