SALT LAKE CITY -- An announcement of a deal between Utah lawmakers and the Count My Vote initiative has been postponed.

An 11 a.m. press conference scheduled Saturday was put off while negotiations continue.

A tweet from the Utah Senate stated: No presser today, amigos. Stay in bed. Enjoy the rain. Read a book to kids. We'll take up #utpol & #utleg again on Monday.

Officials with Count My Vote tweeted Friday night that they would not abandon their petition drive until new legislation has been signed by Gov. Gary Herbert.

The organization has been working to eliminate Utah’s caucus system, and they recently announced they had collected more than 100,000 signatures to back their initiative.

Earlier this month, the group Protect our Neighborhood Elections filed a complaint that called the validity of some of Count My Vote’s signatures into question.

The caucus system was the subject of discussion at a Utah Republican State Central Committee meeting held Saturday, and FOX 13 News spoke with several delegates who attended. See the video above for their interviews.
