FARMINGTON, Utah -- Repticon slithered into town this weekend.

Hundreds of people checked out things that creep and crawl at the reptile exhibit Saturday and Sunday in Farmington.

Enthusiasts said every year they see more people interested in snakes as pets at the convention. And they said once you get past the initial ick factor, they're not so bad.

“Eww. I don't touch them. I just touch the turtles,” said Samantha Harris.

Long time Repticon goers said the event has changed over the years, and now they're starting to see a new generation of reptile lovers.

“Fifteen years ago it was mainly other breeders, hobbyist, pet shop owners, nature centers, and zoos and now it's a lot more family oriented,” said Mike Web, a vendor for ThePetGecko.com.

Repticon expects to put on two more shows this year in Utah.
