BOUNTIFUL, Utah — Police responded to a bank in Bountiful after they received reports of a gunman, but officials said there was no such person in the bank and they believe the call was a prank.

Officials with the Bountiful Police Department said the caller reported an armed robbery was underway, and they said the caller made the report sound “convincing.”

Officials from Bountiful police and the North Salt Lake Police Department surrounded the building and quickly determined there was no threat. Officials said the bank had closed at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Witnesses who submitted photos of the incident to FOX 13 News said they had left a wedding reception in a nearby building around 3 p.m. when they saw the officers, and they said some officers were carrying rifles.

Police have cleared the bank and they are working to determine who made the call about the gunman. FOX 13 News will have more information as it becomes available.

John Fletcher submitted the video below, which shows officers circling the building while carrying rifles.
