SALT LAKE CITY-- Did you have a Valentine this holiday?  If not, you might think the holiday is lonely.

But a Salt Lake City woman who is single is all smiles--Instead of focusing on her love life, 24-year-old Lauren Rose Spencer is listening to friends and strangers tell their love stories.

She’s recording those stories for a special project, then posting them online.

At downtown grocery store, Spencer buys her favorite fruit.

“Maybe three, three is a good number,” she said as she grabs bag of apples.

Those red apples aren’t for her. They’re for the people who will share their love story with her.

“Do you have a valentine?” she asks the checkout clerk.

“I don’t,” he replies.

Neither does Lauren. That’s the point, to learn from others

“To I guess be inspired and learn a little more about love and what people consider love,” Spencer said of her project.

She’s recording stories on her iPhone and starts with friend Elise Harris’ home, a cosmetologist who found her true love a few years ago.

“I love how special he makes me feel,” Harris tells Spencer. “I love how hard he works. I love how he wants to make a future for him and I together.”

With a basket filled with apples in hand, she heads downtown, where some of the stories are filled with hardship. James Klingbiel cares for a woman who lost her two sons. She’s the love of his life.

“I like her spirit, I like that she’s strong, and I like that she stands up for herself,” Klingbiel said.

“Well for Valentine’s Day can I give you an apple?,” asks Spencer. “This is my favorite fruit.”

She offers a Valentine in return for others sharing about their Valentine.

“People are just real,” she said. “They’re either looking for love or they’re in love, but either way they love something, and I think that’s the positive message of the Salt Lake City love story.”

She spent a few weeks interviewing various people and has wrapped up filming.  SLC Love Stories are now online. If you’d like to take a look, click here.
