WASATCH FRONT, Utah – The mayor of Salt Lake City was out Saturday advocating for an accord that would create a plan for protection, use and development of the Wasatch Mountains.

Mayor Ralph Becker spent part of the day at Whole Foods Market at Trolley Square and various other stores around the city, where he explained the Wasatch Mountain Accord project and took feedback from residents.

“We hope to make decisions to make sure we’re well protected going forward for the next generation,” Becker said. “So this decision over the next year on all of these matters hopefully will guide us and give us some comfort on what’s not going to happen in the Wasatch.”

The accord is the work of several groups and agencies, including Salt Lake and Summit Counties, the cities of Sandy and Park City, the state of Utah, the Forest Service and the Federal Department of Transportation.
