PROVO, Utah – About two months after Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines and killed an estimated 6,000 people, a charity race was held in Provo to raise funds for those impacted by the storm’s devastation.

Run 4 Philippines featured a 5K and a 10K run Saturday, and proceeds from the event go toward the relief efforts in the Philippines, like rebuilding projects and efforts to supply food and water to those in need.

Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes took part in the event, which was made more personal by the fact his father is Filipino.

“This was put together very quickly,” he said of the event. “A bunch of people just trying to do good ,and it represents what the state of Utah is all about: volunteerism, service. And from the stories that I’ve heard from my family there and from my dad, boy, everybody needs it.”
