SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah lawmakers are outlining their plans for the upcoming legislative session.

The issues aren’t new, but Utah Democrats want to continue to chip at matters that deal with Utah’s working families.

“I think some of the issues we’ve been dealing with this last year in assuring and restoring the public’s trust, there are things we can do – many of us have bills targeted toward good governance,” said Democrat Rebecca Chavez-Houck, minority assistant whip.

Session kicks off Jan. 27.

Issues include the following:

Air quality

Democrats plan to roll out several bills that would reward residents who buy passes for mass transit. People would receive a tax credit incentive.

Healthcare

Lawmakers want to look at ways to make it affordable and expand Medicaid.

Education

Democrats continue to look at ways to fund it.
