SALT LAKE CITY — The Federal Aviation Administration has made it’s decision on where it will begin testing airspace regulations for drones, and Utah did not make the list.

Utah was one of 24 states seeking to be a test site for unmanned aerial systems, but only six were chosen. Those six include the University of Alaska, State of Nevada, New York’s Griffiss International Airport, North Dakota Department of Commerce, Texas A&M University, and Virgina Polytechnic Institute and State University.

According to the FAA, the six sites achieve cross-country geographic and climatic diversity and each location will help the FAA achieve its research goals.

Under the current law, the test site operations can continue until Feb. 13, 2017.
