EVANSTON, Wyo. — A Virginia man was arrested Friday for allegedly transporting over 13 pounds of marijuana and four large patties of “marijuana wax” in Wyoming.

Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers stopped 56-year-old Larry Betterton for a speeding violation 40 miles west of Evanston on eastbound Interstate 80.

“The newest and latest way to illegally use marijuana is for a kitchen chemist to make marijuana wax,” according to a WHP press release.  “Marijuana ‘wax’ is more than 80% pure THC which is the active ingredient in marijuana, compared to 20% to 30% in the marijuana leaves.”

Troopers estimate the 13 pounds of marijuana has a street value of $80,040 and the four patties of marijuana wax have a street value of $11,104.

Numerous vaporizers were also found with the marijuana wax, troopers said.

Betterton faces felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance in plant form.

Wyoming law enforcement officials are working with their counterparts in Virginia for follow-up investigations.
